West Country Drinks Company Transforms Packaging Process

One of the UK’s leading soft drinks brands has praised Wessex Packaging for their help in transforming the packaging process used to secure their boxes of drinks ready for shipment.

The company, based in the West Country, sends boxes of bottled drinks to retailers and consumers across the country.

Their premium brand is well-known and the range of products loved by loyal customers. As such, their packaging plays a very important role, ensuring product protection and a high quality presentation to the recipient.

The boxes and packing tape used are therefore key elements of their logistics process. They play a part in reducing any risk of damages, but ensuring that the packing and shipping process is efficient and resource-friendly.

Wessex Packaging’s Nik Jarvis worked in partnership with the manufacturer to audit, trial and implement a new taping method…which is now running successfully with significant commercial benefits.

The drinks company’s dispatch team were using a very manual and old tape dispenser, which although is produced pre-moistened gummed paper tape, it was labour intensive, awkward and messy!

On average, this process of taping approximately 40 boxes a day, would take 35 minutes and use excessive amounts of tape.

The comparison with using the new water activated tape machine from Wessex Packaging, was that the same job would take just seven minutes!
