Wessex Packaging Expands in the North with MorsaPack Ltd Acquisition

Manchester based packaging company, MorsaPack Ltd., has joined the Wessex Group.

MorsaPack (formerly known as Jemac), a privately owned and family-run business based in Worsley, Manchester, and has become part of WP Industrial Ltd., (trading as Wessex Packaging) through an agreed share purchase.

With continued growth for its packaging machines, supplies and services across the UK, this acquisition extends Wessex’s reach into the north of England and Scotland.

Wessex Packaging has its HQ and National Distribution Centre in Somerset, and with MorsaPack as part of the group, the company can provide an increased level of customer service to companies throughout the UK. This new location will allow Wessex to increase their stockholding in the northern warehouse, to better support customers and have a positive impact on the business’s carbon footprint.

Lead by Managing Director, Robert McEwan, MorsaPack complements the Wessex brand and service offering. Having been founded in the 1970s, MorsaPack (and previously Jemac) has a well-established and loyal customer base, with a focus on service, sustainability and value. The company originally started as a contract packing business but grew to become a trusted wholesale packaging supplier offering a wide range of products, materials and equipment to companies across the North of England, and Scotland.

Wessex Packaging is also in its 50^th year and is one of the UK’s leading independent packaging companies, and it remains family owned and run. Wessex operates as a national wholesale packaging business, and experts in pallet wrap and load stability products, working in partnership with national and multinational companies across the UK. Wessex Packaging is also the official GB distributor for the innovative ErgoPack strapping machine range.

As part of the wider WP Industrial Ltd group, that includes Compack USA (based in Portland, Oregon), Wessex has grown substantially in recent years. This latest news of MorsaPack joining Wessex follows previous acquisitions of Surepack (Bristol) Ltd, Bayquest Packaging and Tapekraft.

There will be no change for existing MorsaPack customers. The MorsaPack team will continue to operate from Holloway Drive, Wardley Industrial Estate, Worsley, Manchester, M28 2LA, with the existing contact details of [email protected] and 0161 793 7793.
