Wessex Packaging helped understand the process of the Wincanton team receiving inbound goods, that were then wrapped in pallet stretch film, before being unwrapped again to pick the products to go to store.

In the first year, of working with Wessex Packaging, the Wincanton B&Q team have removed 30 tonnes of plastic waste from the process at the Swindon site, and 40 tonnes at their network of other distribution centres overall.

This has been achieved by using Wessex Packaging’s ErgoPack mobile pallet strapping (or banding) machine to strap the inbound pallets, rather than use plastic pallet wrap.

The Return on Investment was just sixteen weeks. And as Dave says “…that is a very, very good win.”

In addition to savings in their productivity and efficiency, the Wincanton B&Q warehouse team have seen a great deal of improvement in their musculo-skeletal positioning, as they don’t have to bend and stretch to wrap pallets by hand.
