Packaging Solutions for the Foodservice Industry

We’re thrilled to have recently won some new packaging business with a national foodservice company that produces meat products for caterers, retailers and wholesalers.

Among the products we supply them is a “meatainer”…essentially strong double walled boxes, that probably needs little explanation!

We also provide a range of specialised boxes that are wax coated, making them water resistant to prevent the box from weakening from moisture. These boxes work well for fresh, chilled and even frozen foods and meats.

This certification ensures that all our packaging is safe to use in food environments. We have an AA BRCGS rating, proving that our warehouse operates to the globally recognised standards.

Packaging in cold environments

Most food produce must stay refrigerated, which means packaging in colder environments. From years of experience, we understand that not all standard products perform as well in cooler temperatures.

Our packaging experts recommend solvent-grade and hot melt adhesive tapes, as standard seals and adhesives tend to lose tackiness in cold work spaces. This could lead to damage or contamination. The same applies to labels as well, and therefore we supply bespoke labels specifically for the food industry.

Producers ship most food products on pallets, making it essential to ensure loads remain stable and protected during transit. Strapping and wrapping is widely used to secure these loads so produce doesn’t get damaged from pallets collapsing.

As transit packaging specialists, we also supply many food companies with stretch film, to enhance load stability and protect against dust and moisture. However colder or humid environments can affect the performance of the pallet wrap making it looser, so selecting the right film is key. Machine stretch film is a top pick for our food industry clients as it delivers consistent stretch when applied. Hand stretch film is equally as effective, with high cling properties, that work well even in colder environments.
