HGV Load Stability Interest in ErgoPack at IntraLogisteX

Ensuring load stability in the supply chain drove lots of interest in our ErgoPack strapping machines at IntraLogisteX 2025.

Visitors to Wessex Packaging’s stand at the IntraLogisteX trade show, held on 25th and 26th March, were particularly interested in ErgoPack to help them comply with UK Government guidelines on how to carry different types of loads on HGVs and goods vehicles.

This guidance states that you must secure the load to the pallet to form a single unit before loading the pallet onto the vehicle. Securing the pallet to the vehicle by itself is not enough. The government guidance says that you can secure the load to the pallet using: Shrink wrapping; Banding; and/or Strapping.

The ability of an ErgoPack strapping machine to easily strap a pallet twice, using PET strapping, in under 60 seconds, provided many ILX visitors with a solution to this requirement.

The Wessex Packaging team, as Official GB Distributors for ErgoPack, demonstrated the ErgoPack X lithium battery-powered machine, and also the ErgoPack RE machine, which uses reusable Velcro strapping on Stand 362 at IntraLogisteX.

ErgoPack strapping machines have a patented ‘ChainLance’ system which takes the PET strapping through the base of the pallet, around the back and returns the strapping to the hand of the operator. The operator can then tension and seal the strapping using the semi-automatic sealing head incorporated into the machine.

This means that the operator can strap a pallet of loaded goods easily, efficiently and ergonomically, without any bending, stretching or having to walk around the pallet.

Many visitors to the stand who transport and distribute their goods on pallets by HGVs could see the benefits that an ErgoPack machine could bring to their operations, and arranged with the Wessex Packaging team for on-site demonstrations at their own locations.
